Your role

  • Writes daily entertainment news and/or features, local and foreign, based on relevant topics, current trends, story requests, and/or assigned coverages.
  • Regularly produces entertainment special reports and long/short features; pitches topics and/or works on topics assigned.
  • Attends all assigned entertainment events for coverage, whether face-to-face or online (ex. beauty pageants, movie premieres, press conferences, project launches, etc.), and must write multiple breaking reports and/or special features from these; must also be on the lookout for upcoming showbiz-related events and pitch these for coverage.
  • Can do live on-camera reporting of any assigned event; has very good live interview skills; must be visually presentable with a good reportorial voice
  • Always willing to work on a flexible and frequently-changing schedule; covers ALL assigned events even on weekends and holidays, or in the late evenings to early morning
  • Assists the editors and fellow writers on tasks that may be assigned on occasion (copyediting, layout, photo selection, monitoring, sourcing, research, coordination with columnists/contributors, etc.)

Training, development & rotations

  • Inquirer Academy (INQA) offers professional courses open to the public and customized corporate training in various topics, such as Communication, Leadership, Organizational Development, Sales and Marketing, Financial Management, IT, Operations Management, and courses for real estate practitioners. During the summer, INQA offers courses for kids and teens as well.
  • Inspired by the Inquirer’s vision of empowering the Filipino people, the Academy endeavors to educate and inform this generation to be a catalyst of change in society. INQA seeks to empower working professionals by providing effective, relevant, and updated learning programs.
  • INQA takes pride in having a pool of course designers and facilitators who are experts in their field with a wealth of experience in various industries. Public courses are conducted in Makati City and Cebu City. Organizations can also request customized programs specific to their learning needs which can be conducted anywhere in the country. Starting in May 2020, INQUIRER Academy will offer virtual workshops and webinars.

About You

  • Open to fresh graduates
  • College Graduate, preferably majoring in Journalism or Communication Arts.
  • Preferably 1-2 year experience in a related field; with related experience
  • Proficient in reading and writing English
  • Proficient in information gathering through interviews and research
  • Interpersonal communication

  • Can work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills
